Happy Easter and Exciting News!

Happy Easter everyone! This year my son, William, who lives in Virginia now was able to come out for spring break so we have all FIVE kids here! Of course with teenagers the kids all stagger awake, some up at 7 and others we have to drag out of bed at noon. Kinda jealous, wish I could sleep till noon. Easter is one of our favorite holidays! We love to decorate the eggs! I usually boil a dozen per kid. This year I did 3- 18 packs though.

Yesterday was my first meetup with the facebook running group I started. My friend Sonia whom I haven’t seen since 2005 when we moved from Hawaii showed up and a local neighbor. There was a total of 5 of us (the other two being my husband and son). The guys set off and did an in and out to the river and back for a total of 6 miles and the girls did a run/walk/run method for 3.1 miles. It was super fun to catch up and burn calories at the same time! We hope to see our group grow and to make it a weekly meetup.

Since I am in a new town and have had great success with networking through facebook I thought I would look at that little tab that suggest groups that I should join. One caught my interest called Jacksonville moms run this town. I was like hmm I will request and ad and see if it a group that is good for me. Once I was approved I started reading some of the posts and there are alot of runners and looks like nurses in the group so I was happy.  One of the posts was for a last call to complete a ragnar team. My heart started racing as I quickly replied asking what pace they needed etc. I emailed the point of contact and asked if it was a co-ed team and if so my husband would love to join as well. I am happy and frightened all at the same time, but yes we have paid and are officially headed to our first Ragnar Relay!!!! Thankfully I have 10 months to train and get my pace needed, and since Todd is such a great runner I get to “borrow” some of his leftover pace lol! We will be runners 5 & 6 which means we will be in the same van. Super excited!!! We can not wait to watch the documentary From Fat to Finish Line. I highly recommend checking them out, they are amazing and help keep me motivated.

Hump day!

So excited that the week is halfway over! It also marks 4 days in a row I have worked out! Heck ya! Maybe my gym rat self is coming back! I mean it does help one of few ladies I have met here is going to be 37 weeks pregnant with twins tomorrow and hits the gym 6-7 days a week. MOTIVATION for my none pregnant self!

I finished W1D2 of C210K today! It is the 60 sec run alternated with 90 sec walking, there are 8 rounds of that with a 5 min warm up & cool down. On round 4 I decided to start at my normal 5.5 and every 10 secs up it .1 mph, it made the minute go by faster, I might do that again Friday when I run day 3.  We did Body Revolution(BR) work out, I made the assigned bfast it was amazing. It was eggs, spinach, red onion, and salmon so good! Then I met my friend who introduced me to another gym rat and we did spin. Between the 3 workouts I burned 1250 calories today! Speaking of calories here is what our side dish looked like from BR kickstart plan!

I don’t know if I mentioned before but Todd announced he is going to run a marathon! Did I mention he is crazy and twice in the past month he has started a run and ran his own half marathon? Without water or any fuel, drives me crazy when he does that. But today he only ran 4 miles and he saw a “friend”...
Yes he saw this! An alligator!!! Because we live in this now!

Pepper, I don’t think we are in San Diego anymore! Just a small amount of culture shock for our California family here in Georgia. So far we are still loving it, but have not had to deal with the gnats or humidity yet. Also I am worried will an alligator eat my little Pepper dog (our weiner dog)?

Body Revolution Day 1 and News!

Now that we are in Georgia school drop off for the younger two is 710 so we have the house kidless by 730. That meant Body Revolution attempt 2 (we started the meal plan last week before I got hit with the stomach bug) commenced. I did it along side Todd, which normally I hate working out with my sexy husband because I feel embarrassed. Today I just concentrated on finishing, it wasn't bad but I have a feeling it gets worse! Then we had bfast and lounged around.

A great thing about my move to Georgia is I have met people via facebook who are into fitness. I was invited to spin today by a lady who is 36 1/2 weeks pregnant with twins.  Yes um can I be her? Anyhow we extended the invite to the girl who totally hooked me up with my awesome new job. oh ya I haven't filled you guys in on that have I? So there was a row of nurses in spin today too! Spin Class was 45 mins long and I made it through whew!

So day 1 of Body revolution calls for two workouts we skipped cardio since I did spin and my husband ran 13.57 miles (without water or fuel, he is crazy amazing!) We followed meal plan to a T! I ate 1140 calories and burned 785 today! woot woot my fitness pal (annakay76) is mad at me but hey it'll be alright. I have drank 2 liters of a water today or maybe more, tomorrow we will look for a water machine to fill our gallon jugs so we can start the one gallon of water a day challenge again!

Ready for the BIG NEWS??

Is that not a beautiful view? Well I will be enjoying that view on April 14th! Why oh because I haven't ran a half since January 2012 when Todd and I ran Rock n Roll Phoenix!

Yes I signed up to run/walk the Iron Girl Half in Clearwater, Florida! I am excited, I know I haven't properly trained but my foot is finally feeling better (it gets a bit tender/achy after a run), and I will be using Jeff Galloway's run walk run method at a 1:1 ratio.  So even if I am not 100% ready this view and the mini vaca we are going to make out of it is sooooo worth it! If anyone wants to meet up and enjoy this amazing race here click here!

Weekend in Review

Friday night I took the girls to see Cats performed by the local high school and it was amazing! I think Berkley (8 yrs old) is still too young for a 3 hr musical though and fell asleep in my lap. The talent in this little town is beyond amazing. I was glad to move here in time to see their spring musical! I can not wait to see next years.

Saturday we had plans to go to the beach. I came home from walking the dog and my daughter is like it is supposed to rain at 11, I was no it is so nice out. Then came the downpour. At midnight it was a huge thunderstorm with lightening. We spent our night playing clue and monopoly. I also started reading a book. Kinda boring night eat eating fancy cheese, I had bought gouda, havati, a cheese spread, and a triple pepper cheddar.

The highlight of my weekend! Recall I wanted to start a running group when I got here. Well I don’t know my work schedule yet so I decided I would start a facebook group just so we could connect as runners! There are already 40 members!

We had plans to go to a church today that was recommended to us but it was still raining pretty hard so I met two women at the gym today! It was my first workout here and my fresh start to running! I completed W1D1 of my couch to 10k program. Then to continue social hour I stayed on the treadmill longer! Got a great burn in!

I leave you guys with this question: Do I run/walk this? Right now I am seeing if there is a spot for me in a car, I will rent my own hotel room since I don’t know any of the ladies yet and I snore (ugh why do I snore so loud?).

We made it to GA!

Whew that road trip was horrible!!!! Two of the kids puked all over my husband’s car the other one ended up puking at my Grandma’s house. Todd got a flat before even making it to where I was in Arizona and I ended up with a bad coil before four corners which cost us $1200 of work at firestone and less time visiting with his mom. Oh and while the car was getting repaired I kept the older kids with me while Todd took the younger kids to his moms and my son threw away his cell phone on accident. We only left behind a pair of my daughter’s shoes (that needed replaced), a vest, and a dog bowl. Not bad at all!!!

We have officially been in our new home for one week. We live in Saint Marys, GA, we are like 5 miles at the most from Florida. We were warned about the bugs and humidity but no one told us about the beauty of this place. It is like we live in the woods. I have been trying to walk my dog, Pepper, at night and we see deer. It is so amazing!
(this is the bike path to the elementary school!)

Ok on to my weight, it is a disaster! After one week of traveling my scale took a huge jump! I mean huge, it has started coming down. On Monday we started the diet (not the workout) of Jillian Michaels’ Body Revolution. Tuesday after breakfast I became ill, I just started feeling better today. I guess I got the kids’ stomach bug, it was horrible!

Today I started telling Todd how I am so upset with myself.  Three of my favorite bloggers are in size 4 and 6 jeans yet I can not keep a regiment down past lunch, it is very discouraging. He asked why am I letting what should be motivational blogs get me down, I said I didn’t know why. I talked to him about how I can’t say the exact day I decided I would start running because well I started running over 18 yrs ago when I decided to join the Navy and needed to lose 12 lbs.  I told him I get so discouraged when my pace is so much slower, I have a hard time running miles I have ran before, etc. He had a great idea, I need a re-do, a new start day! So starting next week I will begin couch to 10K and be proud of every single step I take towards becoming a runner again!

Moving...

I have officially left San Diego and started our journey to our new home in Kings Bay, GA!!! Have big plans for a running group and starting Jillian Michaels Body Revolution with Todd! We should have a new home Thursday night! My scale is packed along with three work out outfits! :)
